I really wish the WSJ would fire Peggy Noonan

Seriously, I don't know how many more times I can be called stupid by someone who gushingly, orgasmically, pushed The Vapid One down our throats and not snap.

I get the message, Peggy.  You wrote speeches for ReaganTM and so therefore you think your opinion on matters of politics matters more than, say, mine.  Good for you.

But remember - when it came to the 2008 election, I was right (and I wasn't alone by a long shot) and you were flat, busted wrong.

So given the Epic Fail! your guy has subjected us all to perhaps you might want to consider dialing-back a bit on the smugness, mm-kay?

To cleanse the pallate, may I suggest a boner-worthy takedown of Peggy's latest bout with serial condescension courtesy of Doctor Zero.

Stay classy, welfare pimps.

Yes Californians, no matter how broke you are, no matter how you can't afford it, according to the welfare pimps Kids Will DieTM unless you agree to fork-over more of your hard-earned cashola to feed the state welfare beast.

Liberals == Pure, freaking evil.

H/T to Sean at doubleplusundead.

More MA Politics

Charlie Baker is after Coupe Deval's head too, it seems.

Republican Charlie Baker, the well-financed CEO of Harvard Pilgrim, has jumped into a quickly swelling 2010 gubernatorial race only two days after Treasurer Timothy Cahill said he decided to switch political parties.

My suspicion is that Baker probably becomes the front-runner for the GOP side over Christy Mihos - who seems to be pinning his entire political future on a yet to be put before the voters "Proposition One".

All I know is that it's nice to see a primary on the GOP side, for a change.  If for no other reason than that it reminds us that there are at least 3 non-Democrats left in the freaking Commonwealth.

Somewhere, Dick Cheney is laughing.

Well, they said if I voted for McMaverick that I'd end-up with a President who would hold detainees indefinitely.  Looks like "they" were right!

The Obama administration said Tuesday it could continue to imprison non-U.S. citizens indefinitely even if they have been acquitted of terrorism charges by a U.S. military commission.

Pity that I can't hear The Dark Lord's laughter over the sound of all those lefty heads exploding all across Cambridge and San Francisco.

So moonbats, when are you going to fire-up your rent-a-mob protest machines over this latest OUTRAGETM?

I don't usually talk MA Politics here.

But this is just a little too good to pass up.

Jumping the Democrat Party line and joining the ranks of unenrolled voters, Treasurer Timothy Cahill is positioned to take on Gov. Deval Patrick without a primary battle in which the sitting governor would enjoy the power of incumbency.

Cahill’s anticipated move also allows his to become the independent voice in the race - beholden to no party - and appeal to fiscal conservatives, Beacon Hill observers said.

Clearly Cahill doesn't seem to think the MA GOP has anything to offer him - a wise assessment (and besides, it appears that Christy Mihos has the socially liberal Republican market pretty much sewn-up already) and that he, a non-liberal on fiscal policies, has no chance against Gov. Spendy Free-Money McSpender among the commie-heavy Democrat Primary electorate - also a wise assessment.

No Nukes!

Because Barry sez so.  Oh Joy - release the Unicorns!

To which, I can't do better than Blazer in reply...

Obama will see himself as a worldly uber-intellectual who will enlighten the Russians and will thaw the tensions that have arisen during the Bush years.

The Russians will take one look across the room at the empty suit with the smirk on his face and realize they are negotiating with an utter fool.

Except to add the observation that The Unicorn Prince does seem to have no trouble whatever in kissing-up to leftist thugs.

I'd very much like to comment on the Sarah Palin resignation saga.

The thing is though, Mark Steyn pretty much said everything I wanted to say.

And then Alex pretty much hit this one long out of the park along the same lines.

So all I'm left to say is that Sarah Palin's departure from the national political stage is a huge loss for the GOP and the nation.  For the left?  Yeah, they got another scalp - and I hope they choke on it.  I hope it burns through their intestines and blows-through their bunghole on the way out.

And I sincerely hope David Letterman has the shiite beat out of him sooner rather than later.  I hope he's kicked sharply in his shriveled-up nuts and beaten to within an inch of his sick, vapid, waste of a life.  And then beaten some more - just for kicks.

But other than that, I really don't have any strong feelings on the matter.

It's not often that I get to second Hot Air's Allahpundit.

But in this case, he is spot-freaking-on.

In the name of all that is good and holy, Gov. Sanford...

Please...

Stop...

Talking.

Now.

Now that it's official...

... and Norm Coleman (a nice guy, but RiNO's RiNO) has conceded to Senator Stewart Smalley - I have a quick question for the Megan McCains, Katie Parkers, David Frums and Colin Powells of the world - you know, the people who think the GOP has to be more "moderate" in order to win elections...

How did that out for the GOP in Minnesota last year?

Like most couples that end in divorce...

... there comes a time when you start to think that differences actually are irreconcilable - not just that you think they are, that they actually are.

I mean, I really don't know how many more times I can handle the ministers of the church of "Dissent is the Highest Form of Patriotism" calling me a traitor or a terrorist before I start to believe, seriously, that secession is the only answer.

Republic of Texas, anyone?

The Human Highlight Reel strikes again.

Pretty soon, the Real Vice President of Genius is going to need his own "idiot" category.

Yep, we really dodged a bullet with that Palin chick.

An idea so stupid...

... it could only have come from a Congressional Democrat.

Ladies and Gentlemen - Barney "Real Man of Genius" Frank!

Back when the housing mania was taking off, Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank famously said he wanted Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to "roll the dice" in the name of affordable housing. That didn't turn out so well, but Mr. Frank has since only accumulated more power. And now he is returning to the scene of the calamity -- with your money. He and New York Representative Anthony Weiner have sent a letter to the heads of Fannie and Freddie exhorting them to lower lending standards for condo buyers.

Yeah, what could possibly go wrong.

One of the highest of Hack Holidays

Bet you didn't know today is Bunker Hill Day!  Well, you would - if you worked (harrumph!) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and/or the City of Boston, that is.

Oddly enough, Boston's soon-to-be-defunct other paper couldn't find anything funny to say today.

A quick question for Katie, Davey, Chrissy, Colin, etc.

Is this the Barack Obama you morons thought you knew?

Mr. Post-Partisan.  Right?

Mr. Bring-All-Sides-Together.  Right?

The Light-Worker.  Right?

Great fucking job, idiots.  Feel free to continue to sell us all down the river - it's not like it even matters anymore.  You sold us this Unicorn Shit Sandwich, and now we're all gonna chow down.

Like who didn't see this coming?

Olympia Snowe?  Open to the "public option" (in other words, the Obamacare "option" that effectively nukes all private health insurance)?  Why, of course she is!

Let us face it - any time the Zero needs a so-called Republican to sandbag any hope the party may have to stop some of the moronic and destructive aspects of his agenda, the dimmer of the two Maine dingbats will only be too happy to pitch in.

Yes, she can.

Seriously, would there be any difference - any functional difference at all - if an actual Democrat held that seat?

Remain calm. All is well.

Hmmm - interest rates rising when there's no recovery in sight.  What could possibly go wrong?

Rates on the 30-year T-bill are up some 90% (4.67%) over their lows of 7-months ago (2.5%).  At a time when unemployment is ramping up and predictions of economic recovery are being backed out into 2010.

But I'm sure it will all and well.

Because we have a cool new President - with great pecs.

H/T streetwise.

The Nuclear Debt Bomb

Here comes the VAT.

Normally Paul Krugman, the liberal pundit and Nobel laureate in economics, and Paul Ryan, a conservative Republican congressman from Wisconsin, share little in common except their first names and a scorching passion for views they champion from opposite political poles. So when the two combatants agree on a fundamental threat to the U.S. economy, Americans should heed this alarm as the real thing. What's worrying both Krugman and Ryan is the rapid increase in the federal debt - ... the huge structural deficits that, under all projections, keep building the burden far into the future to unsustainable, ruinous heights.

And both agree that there is one - and only one answer for that - the Value Added Tax, or VAT.
